Holiday Mania

In addition to the additions:

Drink a bottle of wine and watch Love Actually. (This is a new tradition for me.)

Set your alarm clock radio to wake you up with the Christmas station. (I arose to "Jingle Bell Rock" this morning. Great fun.)

Wear a sweater with bells on it. And elves.

Crack your favorite nuts with a nutcracker. (I am partial to filberts.)

Play Grinch-opoly. (Obviously, the Grinch version of the classic family board game, Monopoly.)

Watch every possible holiday special and sitcom on television. (In addition to Nick and Jessica's and Clay Aiken's Christmas specials, be sure not to miss the Home Improvement episode where the boys steal donations to the poor to buy better Christmas presents for their girlfriends.)

Sport a Santa hat. Monogrammed with your name.

In other news, I am thinking of having a New Year's Eve party. Any takers for DC? I know, I know, of course you all will get here as soon as possible, because how could NYC or Paris compare...

you put me in the mood

Happy holdidays everyone!

I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving; from what I've heard, turkey is good everywhere. I went home to PA and ate for several days straight with Dan, the immediates, and about 25 of my closer family members. Everyone loves Dan of course. He behaved himself, mostly, save for a juggling incident that claimed my cell phone. Tara-- I will call you back as soon as I get my replacement. :)

We saw Harry Potter in IMax, and I beat Dan and my brother in poker, so my week was a success.

Now it's time to go back to working constantly and doing even more schoolwork-- As Cary said, it's almost finals time.

It's also almost time for Christmas, and then New Years (and, ahem, in between, my birthday) and Mikey and I want to make sure that we-- that's you guys too-- are in the proper spirit. We have compiled a list of things to do to get in a holiday mood. If you have anything to add, please do. Tara-- I know this is your speciality. So, do these things:

Watch Christmas movies. (Mikey suggests Christmas Vacation once a week)

Decorate your abode, and try and use some twinkle lights.

Hang stockings.

Light Christmas candles

Make hot chocolate

Spike the hot chocolate with peppermint schnapps

Play christmas music (Mikey has noted: "nightly")

Send Christmas cards to friends (I'm sure naughty e-cards are fine too)

Go shopping for presents (Fabs note: "make lists" I know a few of you would enjoy this, but I'm going to rule this part is optional.)

Wrap presents

And my own personal addition- make the dog wear scarves and reindeer ears.

Now, enjoy the 65 degree weather, and secretly think about snow.

Still haven't seen the movie... :( The i-max is sold out! I guess we'll just have to go to the regular theater tomorrow night. Happy turkeys and families everyone!

Apple cake and cartoons.

To appease Geoff, I will post as well. Unfortunately, not too much is happening with me. I am sick, so that's something...I have spent the last four days video-taping the second-year UM Opera Studio's fall piano opera. And there is one more performance tomorrowI evening, during which I think I might jump off the balcony to put myself out of my congested misery. I am currently sitting on my red couch watching "The Simpsons," waiting for my apple cake to finish baking. Yes, I made an apple cake. Ummm, in other news, my parents have decided to seperate, so Thanksgiving is going to be bizarre: my mother is staying in Delaware, and my father, my aunt, my uncle, my cousin and I will be eating out somewhere in DC. At least there will be no dishes to clean.
And to further calm Geoff, the blog-patrol captain, I will post a poem (not original, but pretty nifty). Happy Thanksgiving to all, and to all a good night.

Otherwise

I got out of bed
on two strong legs.
It might have been
otherwise. I ate
cereal, sweet
milk, ripe, flawless
peach. It might
have been otherwise.
I took the dog uphill
to the birch wood.
All morning I did
the work I love.

At noon I lay down
with my mate. It might
have been otherwise.
We ate dinner together
at a table with silver
candlesticks. It might
have been otherwise.
I slept in a bed
in a room with paintings
on the walls, and
planned another day
just like this day.
But one day, I know,
it will be otherwise.

ouch.

berk. i have a hangover. a shameful one.
last night i drank: 1 gin+tonic. 1 ti punch (rum+fruit). quite a few glasses of chanpagne (4?). 1 vodka+tonic. and then a few beers (3?).
mind yous, i'm ALLERGIC to beer.
and then i made out with this nice, semi-cute and a little-on-the-chubby-side boy named damien for hours.
and then, at 6am, i came home and kevin called. i think we talked for awhile. i have no idea what was said.
and on top of it all, i've been dead sick since tuesday night. as in, i haven't really left my house in days. and then i go to this wild party at muriel's and dance for 8 hours. i have no voice left.
and i'm feeling just a bit shoddy.
you know when you can't do anything besides think of how sick you feel, and how pissed you are that you let yourself get so out of control? for some strange strange reason, there's this pull to tell you all about my misery. hope you don't mind, and i hope your sunday is better than mine.

oh, but there's light at the end of this posting! e-opals, put an e-mail to your e-self in the e-timecapsule: http://forbes.codefix.net/capsule/.

just imagine my face in the magazine

maybe one day you can visit my condo

it's the right thing to do

So, Dan just found an apartment in Queens! The boys are heading up to NYC as of December. Woohoo! Now- Geoff & Paulie, you recently promised me you'd move to New York. Jill, I think you should too. Carolyn, where else are you gonna go when you get back from Paris?

This is my plan-- eeeeeeeeverybody move their asses up to New York.

I think it's a good idea.

(Those who are in school or at jobs they particularly love are excused. No other reasons allowed, though.)

wake up little sushi

while they were rioting, we were partying.

it was actually a riot in its own way...people everywhere, loud sound, broken glass, and smoke included. we didnt burn any cars, but we shook the building nonetheless.

and my sushi was pretty damn good.

this makes me happy

it's about time, too:
(link to story)

Carolyn, what's going on?

Can't you keep these people under control? Update please. I know it was in the suburbs, but that doesn't mean you didn't burn anything...

Ok this is weird

And if none of you are going to weigh in on your weekends, this is what you're getting from me:

Look at this. Please take a look at the FAQs. We can discuss this weekend in Atlantic Titty. I am perplexed, intrigued, and disturbed. I just don't know where to start, so I won't.

Oh, and PS- don't look at it at work.
