last night i concocted quite a few conspiracy theories about the revolts, but this is the situation at its most basic: the french standards of marginalisation and profiling don't do shit to integrate the very large immigrant population that live outside of Paris. no matter where in France, though, this country is so divided along ethnic and racial lines...it's evident that its time for a change, especially now that militant-minded Sarkozy is in charge. this deep-seated resentment mixes with teenage badboy aggression, et voilà.
